Answer #3:

i don't have a problem with my discs getting scratched on my xbox 360,i thought that only happened if you moved it while a disc was playing.other than that i do agree that i would rather have a gaming system that plays my games and not breaks down,if you need to keep sending it in for repairs what good is that.hope this helps.try to have fun gaming.

Answer #4:

That's kinda've why they stopped making the old ones and have the new slim out....

Answer #5:

I have had the same Xbox 360 since 2008. Not once did I have problems with it. It doesn't scratch my games or Red ring on me. It seems your one of the unlucky ones that has a faulty system. I agree with you on that. It's an unforgivable mistake on the part of Microsoft (The newer generation xbox systems are very, very good though). I can understand you don't want anything xbox anymore so I suggest you give the PS3 a try. Good system too. I do still prefer the xbox. Ultimately, it's up to you though.

Good luck mate!

Answer #6:

The scratched disk is just MS being cheap. Yahoo had an article about how all it costs was just an extra few cents to include something that would have fixed the scratched disk problem, but MS didn't want to spend that extra few cents.

The main problem with the 360 is that there wasn't enough testing. MS wanted to get the 360 out before the PS3 so it was rushed. Having a 360 that gets the RRoD during E3 should have told MS that it's a sign of things to come.

The casing is also a problem. Look at the PS3: Convex to allow lots of room for air to move around. 360 has a convex shape, and there's a bottleneck near the center. Air doesn't circulate that well in that area.
